Effective October 1, 2024: To streamline communications, all F-35 and Air National Guard related inquiries should be routed directly to the 158th Fighter Wing contact page or by calling 802-660-5379. F-35 flying alerts (ie night flying schedules) will only be posted on the Vermont Air National Guard website.
National Guard and PFOS/PFOA
The National Guard works with multiple federal, state and local agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Defense (DoD), the active components of the Air Force and Army, and state regulatory offices to address potential presence of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) at National Guard installations. PFOS and PFOA are two chemicals in a much larger class of chemicals known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

On July 23, 2019, the newly appointed Secretary of Defense, Mark T. Esper, announced the creation of a PFAS Task Force to address the chemicals at “more than 400 military installations and their surrounding communities across the country.” National Guard representatives participate on the PFAS Task Force.
