Vermont Army National Guard promotes first female to Brigadier General

Colchester, Vt. — Col. Tracey Poirier will become the first female promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the history of the Vermont Army National Guard during a ceremony at Camp Johnson on Wednesday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m.

Vermont Airmen and Soldiers Assist After Historic Flooding

South Burlington, Vt. — Floodwaters caused historic and catastrophic devastation throughout the state of Vermont during the course of two days beginning Monday, July, 10th 2023. Montpelier, Vermont’s capital city, was battered by a record setting 5.28 inches of rainfall on Monday alone — more than any other day on record. This week, the Vermont National Guard was activated to action to assess the damage.

JERICHO, Vt. — Two U.S. Marines assist a woman with a flat tire during flash floods as the flood water rises near her vehicle.

Alpha Company was activated to assist the state of Vermont after flooding occurred throughout the state.

Vermont National Guard Delivers Water as Part of Flood Relief

Berlin, Vt. — In response to the recent floods that struck several towns in Vermont, 186th Brigade Support Battalion Soldiers stepped up to provide critical aid. On July 13-14, the battalion delivered approximately 70,000 liters of water, contained in 92 pallets, to the towns of Marshfield, Morrisville, Woodstock, and Ludlow, ensuring that essential supplies reached the affected communities.

The Vermont National Guard Soldiers quick reaction force worked with North Carolina and Massachusetts urban search and rescue teams to rescue and relocate 27 people and their pets in Cambridge.

Tactical Insertion in the Arctic, First of Its Kind

RESOLUTE BAY, NUNAVUT, CANADA — Thirty-seven U.S. and Canadian Soldiers were tactically inserted by way of an LC-130 Hercules on Arctic Ocean ice just east of Little Cornwallis Island in Nunavut, Canada, during exercise Guerrier Nordique 23 on March 15, 2023.
