Vermont Hosts First Guard Gaming Event

Vermont Air National Guard Base — The Vermont Air National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing is the first Air National Guard base to host Air Force Gaming. Airmen and civilians from across the wing met during the week of March 7-10 to highlight their competitive gaming skills and to build morale while they were at it.

Tactical Insertion in the Arctic, First of Its Kind

RESOLUTE BAY, NUNAVUT, CANADA — Thirty-seven U.S. and Canadian Soldiers were tactically inserted by way of an LC-130 Hercules on Arctic Ocean ice just east of Little Cornwallis Island in Nunavut, Canada, during exercise Guerrier Nordique 23 on March 15, 2023.

Can't Get Enough Gurrier Nordique

Resolute Bay, Canada — 2023 marks U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Shane Yuknis' second visit to the northern most location for the Canadian hosted exercise, Guirrier Nordique. Active duty Soldiers form the 11th Airborne DIvision and National Guard Soldiers from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Utah, National Guard Bureau and Vermont join the Canadian Armed Forces for Guerrier Nordique 2023 in Resolute, Nanuvut, Canada from March 4-March 20.

The Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Assistance Support Element (CASE) is now open to all Vermont National Guard Soldiers

Vermont, USA — The Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Assistance Support Element (CASE) is now open to all Vermont National Guard Soldiers regardless of military occupational specialty or duty location. The CASE is a 200-person element with Vermont providing 100 Soldiers, and Massachusetts providing the other 100.

State tuition benefit opens career pathways

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Staff Sgt. Joseph Poley is expanding his career options thanks to a law passed in May that provides Guardsmen with up to $16,000 in tuition benefits for Vermont state colleges. Poley, a paralegal NCO with the Vermont National Guard’s Staff Judge Advocate office, said he learned about the new state tuition benefit while discussing financial aid options with Capt. Axel Larson, the Vermont National Guard’s education service officer.
