Vermont Airmen Test Agility During Multi-State Exercise

Savannah Air National Guard Base — Throughout the course of two weeks, nearly 260 personnel from the Vermont Air National Guard’s 158th Fighter Wing left the snow, sleet, and freezing temperatures of a New England winter and made their way to the sunshine and more moderate climes of northern Georgia.

Airman Knits Joy for Self and Others

Vermont Air National Guard Base — Senior Airman Emily Sorrell took a simple knitting hobby and created a rewarding side hustle by crafting mini creatures that she calls “plushies.” And she may have a common throat bacteria to thank for her success.

Back with a Bang: Vermont F-35s to the Forefront at William Tell

Savannah Air National Guard Base — After nearly two decades, the skies over Savannah once again roared with the sound of competitive spirit as the Air Force's historic William Tell Air-to-Air Weapons Meet made its triumphant return. Hosted at the Air Dominance Center from Sept. 11-15, 2023, this event showcased the prowess of the Air Force's finest, with a special spotlight on the 158th Fighter Wing.

158th Fighter Wing Makes History in Austria

Vienna, Austria — The Vermont Air National Guard made history as they arrived in Austria to celebrate the one year anniversary of their State Partnership Program agreement, which saw U.S. F-35s land in Austria for the first time on June 16, 2023.

Vermont Proves Their Shooting Skills

Camp Robinson, Ark. — Eight Vermont National Guardsmen spent two weeks at Camp Robinson competing against the best military marksmen from across the world during a competition hosted by the Army National Guard from April 24 to May 7.

Vermont Hosts First Guard Gaming Event

Vermont Air National Guard Base — The Vermont Air National Guard's 158th Fighter Wing is the first Air National Guard base to host Air Force Gaming. Airmen and civilians from across the wing met during the week of March 7-10 to highlight their competitive gaming skills and to build morale while they were at it.

State tuition benefit opens career pathways

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Staff Sgt. Joseph Poley is expanding his career options thanks to a law passed in May that provides Guardsmen with up to $16,000 in tuition benefits for Vermont state colleges. Poley, a paralegal NCO with the Vermont National Guard’s Staff Judge Advocate office, said he learned about the new state tuition benefit while discussing financial aid options with Capt. Axel Larson, the Vermont National Guard’s education service officer.

Vermont Guard honors MIAs, former POWs

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — The Vermont National Guard and Vermont State Guard held a ceremony Sept. 16 at Camp Johnson, Vermont, to honor former prisoners of war and those missing in action, including three former POWs from World War II and a former POW who was captured by North Korea in 1968.

Minnesota Army National Guard Spc. Bronson Stachowiak, from Cottage Grove, Minnesota, who serves as a unit supply specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 682nd Engineer Battalion is one of 27 service members from the Minnesota National Guard and NATO allied nations Canada and Croatia who participated in the 2026 Minnesota Best Warrior Competition April 15-18, 2026, at Camp Ripley, near Little Falls, Minnesota. This competition tests participants’ knowledge, technical and tactical proficiency, physical endurance and resilience through a series of demanding events.
