Vermont National Guard Solider completes French Desert Commando Course

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — According to Spc. Caylen De Los Reyes, successfully completing the French Desert Commando Course not only improved individual readiness, the demanding training also helped the Vermont Guardsman prepare for the U.S. Army Special Forces Assessment and Selection course.

Vermont seeks to build upon partnership with North Macedonia

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Maj. Gen. Greg Knight, the state adjutant general, will travel to North Macedonia May 29, accompanied by Vermont Lt. Gov. Remote TAC-V Training

JERICHO, Vt. — The Vermont Army National Guard’s Security and Support (S&S) aviation unit spent the warm spring days of May traveling around the state to practice their skills in new locations. On one of these missions, the unit inserted two soldiers into a remote location to independently set up and operate communications equipment known as tactical video downlink (TAC-V).

Anshan native trades Qianshan Mountain for Green Mountains

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Spc. Mike Liu, a native of Anshan, China, joined the Vermont Army National Guard through the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest program, which allows non-U.S. citizens with certain skills to enlist and apply for citizenship.

Vermont ARNG holds sendoff for Task Force Mansfield

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — The Vermont Army National Guard held a sendoff ceremony May 18, 2021, at Camp Johnson, Vermont, for Soldiers assigned to Task Force Mansfield and the 172nd Public Affairs Detachment. The Soldiers among the last of about 1,000 to deploy to U.S. European Command and U.S. Central Command to support federal missions.

Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Staunton-based 116th Mobile Brigade Combat Team, or MBCT, unload vehicles and equipment from railcars June 3, 2026, at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The vehicles and equipment traveled from Virginia to Louisiana in support of a training rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center, or JRTC, at Fort Polk. The 116th MBCT is the first Army National Guard brigade to participate in a JRTC rotation as a mobile brigade combat team after formally transitioning from an infantry brigade combat team in 2025.
