Vaccination rates soar for deployed infantry battalion

SOUTHWEST ASIA — The Jericho, Vermont, based 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain) surpasses the average COVID-19 vaccination rate while deployed.

Vermont Guardsman Receives Soldier’s Medal for 2020 rescue

JERICHO, Vermont — On Feb. 29, 2020, Sgt. 1st Class Dustin Dearborn, a Vermont National Guard instructor at the Army Mountain Warfare School, responded to an emergency call from State Police to assist in the rescue of two skiers lost at night, in deteriorating weather near the Stowe Mountain ski area.

Vermont National Guard Solider completes French Desert Commando Course

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — According to Spc. Caylen De Los Reyes, successfully completing the French Desert Commando Course not only improved individual readiness, the demanding training also helped the Vermont Guardsman prepare for the U.S. Army Special Forces Assessment and Selection course.

Vermont seeks to build upon partnership with North Macedonia

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Maj. Gen. Greg Knight, the state adjutant general, will travel to North Macedonia May 29, accompanied by Vermont Lt. Gov. Remote TAC-V Training

JERICHO, Vt. — The Vermont Army National Guard’s Security and Support (S&S) aviation unit spent the warm spring days of May traveling around the state to practice their skills in new locations. On one of these missions, the unit inserted two soldiers into a remote location to independently set up and operate communications equipment known as tactical video downlink (TAC-V).

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont — Spc. Mike Liu, a native of Anshan, China, joined the Vermont Army National Guard through the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest program, which allows non-U.S. citizens with certain skills to enlist and apply for citizenship.

Tessah Satterfield, an Arkansas National Guard 188th Intelligence Support Squadron aviation resource manager, recently deployed to Germany for a temporary duty, or TDY, assignment to provide support to the 693rd Wing at Ramstein Air Base. Because of the 693rd’s continuous rotation of personnel, this TDY proved beneficial to both the 188th and the 693rd by providing an opportunity to share expertise in a practical and classroom setting, assist in hands-on fiber architecture and maintenance operations and bolster mission readiness by providing critical deployment experience for the 188th and enhancing the skillset of both groups.
