Vets & Vermont Job Placement Program

The Interview Opportunity Program is a strategic partnership between the Vermont Air National Guard and a cross section of corporations, companies, and public sector agencies. The IOP partners guarantee Airmen an interview for hiring opportunity upon completion of initial training and as long as Airmen are in good standing with the VTANG. This is not a guarantee of employment but is part of the VTANG's effort to partner with the local business community and reconnect Vermont with its Air National Guard.

The IOP is a recruiting and retention incentive for applicants who enlist into the Vermont Air National Guard. The IOP allows Airmen to select up to five IOP partners who will guarantee them a job interview. Applicants are introduced to the IOP option during their initial applicant interview with their recruiter. When Airmen return home after completing initial training, they may contact their IOP partner to schedule an interview. The IOP does not guarantee employment, and it is the individual Airman's responsibility to be prepared for their interview(s).

1. The partnership welcomes established companies and public sector agencies with secure reputations.
2. Ideally, partners offer full-time employment. However, seasonal employers may also participate.
3. The IOP program does not charge a fee to become a partner. In turn, companies that charge a fee for employment or placement do not qualify.

1. Access to trusted and highly skilled Airmen with training in diverse specialties, including construction trades, mechanics, finance, communications, security, cyber operations, personnel, intelligence, avionics, maintenance, electronics, and information technology.
2. Eligibility to Vermont State and Federal benefits to veterans' employers: 
   1. Hire a Veteran (Vermont Department of Labor)
   2. Work Opportunity Tax Credit (IRS)

IOP partner companies and agencies must identify one point of contact and establish a mechanism that identifies the VTANG applicants within their system.

IOP Partners are required to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the VTANG. Although this is not a legal contract, the MOA is a legal document that must remain consistent in language from one partnership to another. The VTANG and IOP partners may dissolve the agreement at any time.
