Vermont Soldiers prepare to depart for D.C.

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont  –  

The Vermont National Guard will conduct COVID-19 screening and preparation for the departure of approximately 100 Soldiers to support Operation Capitol Response in Washington, D.C., Jan. 16 from 10-11 a.m.

The National Guard has supported the Inauguration every four years since George Washington. This year, the Vermont National Guard will join over 20,000 other Soldiers and Airmen from across the country to support federal and local agencies ensure a peaceful inauguration.

Effective October 1, 2024: To streamline communications, all F-35 and Air National Guard related inquiries should be routed directly to the 158th Fighter Wing contact page or by calling 802-660-5379. F-35 flying alerts (ie night flying schedules) will only be posted on the Vermont Air National Guard website.

Approximately 50 Alaska National Guard service members, volunteers from the Salvation Army, AKNG Child and Youth Program and others visited the southeastern Alaskan city of Yakutat, Dec. 18, 2024. Operation Santa Claus, a longstanding annual community outreach program of the AKNG, has provided gifts such as toys, backpacks, and books to children in remote Alaskan communities since 1956. The program partners with the Salvation Army and numerous volunteers to spread holiday cheer, continuing its tradition of support.
