Vermont National Guard Public Affairs

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont  –

Vermont Secretary of Education Daniel French, will join Maj. Gen. Greg Knight, Vermont adjutant general, to discuss education related opportunities the Vermont National Guard provides on Dec. 3, 2020, at 3:30 p.m.

Knight and French will welcome several additional guests, from leaders in the Vermont National Guard to young Soldiers and Airmen involved in educational programs.

"I am happy to participate in this event and to support the Vermont National Guard. The Guard provides excellent opportunities for Vermont's high school graduates. The Guard offers state-of-the-art training in many career fields, and solid financial incentives for education,” said French. “The Guard also provides experiences to develop leadership skills and opportunities to give back and make a difference in our communities. As we have seen during the COVID-19 emergency, the Vermont National Guard plays a significant role in making Vermont a better place."

The Vermont National Guard will host the event live on their Facebook page. Those interested can submit questions live or ahead of time through this link: https://tinyurl.com/yxfx89h7.

“We see this as a great opportunity to use an accessible platform like Facebook Live to inform students, parents and educators of all the opportunities available to anyone who has the desire to serve,” said Knight. “Whether you want to pursue a technical career, a formal education, or you’re not sure what’s next, the Vermont National Guard can help prepare you to develop and pursue your goals.”

Topics for the town hall will include: education benefits, vocational benefits, educational loan forgiveness, Army Reserve Officer Training Corps programs and scholarships at Norwich University and the University of Vermont. As well as appointments to West Point Prep School or the United States Military Academy at West Point, and assistance in obtaining civilian job interviews.
