CEATS Training Schedule Update

Vermont National Guard Public Affairs

JERICHO, Vermont  –

The Camp Ethan Allen Training Site has updated their schedule as units prepare for deployments in 2021.

Of note, from Oct. 15-20, the 1st Battalion, 103rd Field Artillery from Rhode Island will conduct live-firing operations with their M777A2 155mm howitzers, a larger cannon than the M102 105mm howitzer used by Bravo Battery, 101st Artillery Battalion based out of Vergennes. Residents in communities surrounding the range can expect the M777A2 to be louder than the weapons typically fired on CEATS.

“CEATS is the closest DoD range available to New England states that has the capability for indirect fire weapons such as the M777A2s to operate,” said Lt. Col David Fabricius, chief plans and operations officer for the range. “Due to COVID-19 restrictions, units are not able to travel further to other ranges as they may have done in the past.”

Vermont units are on a compressed time line because of training requirements leading up to likely 2021 deployments and training year 2021 requirements.

CEATS is a subordinate unit of the Garrison Support Command. Plans, operations, range safety, and all operations at the range are run by a dedicated full-time and part-time staff. Range staff has also led multiple efforts to mitigate the impact of noise on the local community. Range operations are subject to change.

All range inquiries should be directed to the Vermont National Guard State Public Affairs office by calling 802-338-3000 and using option three. You can also e-mail inquiries through the VTNG Public Affairs mailbox at ng.vt.vtarng.mbx.vtng-statepao@mail.mil.

Effective October 1, 2024: To streamline communications, all F-35 and Air National Guard related inquiries should be routed directly to the 158th Fighter Wing contact page or by calling 802-660-5379. F-35 flying alerts (ie night flying schedules) will only be posted on the Vermont Air National Guard website.
