SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. –
Incident Update #2:
Clean-up efforts are currently focused on the sewage lines leading out of the AASF. Increased personnel on Shamrock Road has led to some traffic delays. We expect increased traffic congestion to stop after today.
All personnel have returned to work at the AAFS. Water remains off at the facility as the water lines and fire suppression room still need to be cleaned. The start of the investigation has been pushed to Monday, July 1st at the earliest.
The fire suppression room is where the AFFF was stored, and the room is currently closed off. We will continue to send updates as they come.

Incident Update #1:
Cleaning at the Army Aviation Facility continues, and the building is closed to all personnel not directly part of the clean-up efforts. The building is expected to re-open for regular work on Wednesday, June 26.
An estimated 650 gallons of AFFF concentrate was recovered from the sprinkler room at the Army Aviation Support Facility in South Burlington.
An investigation into the system failure will occur once the facility is decontaminated. We anticipate having full access to the sprinkler system by Thursday.

First Release:
800 gallons of concentrated aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) was released at the Army Aviation Support Facility in South Burlington, VT, during the evening of June 20.
The foam was released because of a fire system malfunction while no one was in the building.
The Vermont National Guard is working with a variety of local agencies to contain the spill.
We will release information as it becomes available.
