CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont –
Soldiers assigned to 1st Squadron, 172nd Cavalry (MTN) will conduct a reenactment ceremony at St. Albans Taylor Park on Sunday, August 11 starting at 11:00 a.m. There will be portable toilets, family day activities, and a BBQ area to make this a great experience for all in attendance.
“Vermonters and the Vermont National Guard have a long history, and this is a great event to help tell that story,” said Brig. Gen. Richard Lebel, land component commander, Vermont Army National Guard. “The community is a big part of who we are, and we are excited to share this experience with them.”
An invitation from Lt. Col. L.M. Doane, commander, 1st Squadron, 172nd Cavalry (MTN), is included. Doane is challenging the city of St. Albans to help recreate a photo taken 100 years ago on June 7, 1918, during what was called “Honor Day.”
