Vermont National Guard Public Affairs

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont  –

The Vermont Army National Guard will host a change of command ceremony for the 124th Regiment (Regional Training Institute) on Sunday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the Green Mountain Armory, Camp Johnson, Colchester, Vermont.

Lt. Col. Roger Drury, commander, 124th Regiment, will relinquish command to Col. Tracey Poirier.

“This is a proud day for the Vermont National Guard,” said Brig. Gen. Richard Lebel, land component commander, Vermont Army National Guard. “Col. Poirier is a tremendous leader with substantial experience in the Army Reserve, Marine Corps, and National Guard. The knowledge she brings as an Army officer and Norwich administrator make her the ideal candidate for a brigade-level command.”

The Regional Training Institute is home to the Army Mountain Warfare School, Information Operations Battalion, Officer Candidate School, and the Basic Leaders Course. Poirier is the sixth woman to reach the rank of colonel in the Vermont Army National Guard. She is the first woman to command the 124th Regiment.
