Vermont National Guard Public Affairs

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vermont  –

The Vermont Air National Guard will have increased flight activity May 18-20 in preparation for off station training later this summer:

May 18, two takeoff and landing windows between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
May 19, three takeoff and landing windows between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
May 20, three takeoff and landing windows between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
May 21, no flying.

“Our training is to validate the 158th Fighter Wing’s ability to execute a flying schedule similar to one during deployed operations,” said Lt. Col. Trevor Callens, the 134th Fighter Squadron director of operations. “The exercise will assess the wing’s ability to safely fly at a higher operations tempo, while maintaining an aircraft availability rate high enough to support the flying requirements.”

Airmen of the 158th Fighter Wing are required to conduct flying operations to meet U.S. Air Force and Major Command requirements and proficiencies.
