VTARNG promotes deputy logistics chief to colonel

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont  –  

The Vermont National Guard will hold a ceremony recognizing the promotion of Lt. Col. Roger Ziegler, deputy chief of staff logistics, to colonel here on May 25 at 4 p.m. 

“Lt. Col. Roger Zeigler is ideally suited to lead the Vermont Army National Guard’s logistical planning and operations,” said Col. Tracey Poirier, chief of staff, Vermont Army National Guard. “He and I have worked side-by-side for much of the last ten years and I can say without hesitation that Lt. Col. Zeigler has always led with integrity and professionalism. The Vermont Army National Guard is extremely fortunate to benefit from his service.”

Zeigler was commissioned in August 1998 through the Kansas Officer Candidacy School program as an Ordnance Officer. He has 28 years of uniformed service: 23½ years of commissioned service and 4½ years of prior enlisted service. He has served the last 12 years as a Logistics Officer with the Vermont Army National Guard in staff positions at all levels and as the Commander of the 186th Brigade Support Battalion. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics for the VTARNG. Zeigler deployed once to Iraq from September 2005 to January 2006. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Zeigler holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College as well as a Certificate in Leadership and Ethics.
