Upcoming VTARNG deployment ceremonies

CAMP JOHNSON, Vermont  –  

The Vermont Army National Guard will hold deployment ceremonies for the final three units deploying in 2021.

Ceremonies are scheduled to be held at Taylor Park in St. Albans for units of 1st Squadron, 172nd Cavalry (Mountain) May 11 at 2:30 p.m., at the Camp Ethan Allen Training Site in Jericho for Headquarters 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) May 14 at 11 a.m., and at Camp Johnson in Colchester for Task Force Mansfield and the 172nd Public Affairs Detachment May 18 at 2:30 p.m.

These are the last of the 950 Vermont Army National Guard Soldiers who have scheduled deployments to locations across U.S. Europe Command, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Central Command throughout the first half of 2021. The Soldiers have been preparing for these deployments for over a year and are among the most ready in the country. The National Guard’s federal mission is what prepares and equips members to perform state missions, such as COVID-19 response, when requested by the governor.
